A man described by the FBI as the largest facilitator of child porn on the planet has launched a last-ditch attempt to block his extradition to the United States where he could be jailed for life.

Eric Eoin Marques, 30, who has dual Irish and US citizenship, lost two cases in the Court of Appeal last December. He argued that he should not be extradited to face four charges related to Freedom Hosting, a “dark web” business he owned. He said he would plead guilty in Ireland, where he would face a 14-year maximum sentence.

Freedom Hosting’s servers hosted hundreds of child sex abuse websites, which were said to be extremely graphic and to depict the rape and torture of young children.
